Volvo 240 Brake Junction Block--Solid Style
This high quality replacement brake junction block is precision machined from solid brass. Designed to duplicate the 1991-style brake "octopus", this junction has NO inner slider piston and NO provision for electrical switch or connection. Nothing to leak! It will replace all NON-ABS brake junctions for Volvo 240 exactly, with the exception of eliminating the brake failure warning switch. The dual circuit safety braking system is maintained. Please see installation notes below.

Your '91 or earlier brake lines will attach right to this junction, and the junction will mount in the original location. No mechanical modifications necessary, if your current installation is factory original. Clean your new junction thoroughly with brake cleaner before installing. No other prep is required for installation. Bleed brakes per Volvo's instructions after installation. Use DOT 4 fluid!
PLEASE NOTE!!! This junction provides NO port for the brake failure warning switch. For the '91 model year, Volvo did away with the both the switch, and the spool, inside the junction, that activated it. Instead, the 240 was fitted with a master cylinder reservoir containing a float switch. In this type of installation, the "brake failure" warning switch monitors only the level of brake fluid in the master cylinder's reservoir. Wagonmeister recommends you change your reservoir cap to Ate cap #34321153157 when installing this brake junction, in pre-91 240s. This cap can also be found as PN 390433, or 03.3556-1124.2. This will activate the warning light, with correct wiring.
DO NOT operate your vehicle with NO provision for brake failure warning!

As an alternative to the sensor style reservoir cap, you can install a later style MC reservoir with a level sensor inside. These torpedo style reservoirs are found on '91 and later 240s, as well as on 7/9 series Volvos.

Both of these modifications, the cap or the reservoir, require that the old brake failure sensor's wiring be reworked. The old sensor is part of a ground circuit. Attach the old wire to one terminal of your new sensor, on the cap or reservoir. The second terminal must be grounded. Verify function of the brake failure light by removing the cap, or before filling the reservoir.
This product is an exact copy of the original, Volvo part. It has NO moving parts and is nothing more than a distribution junction. Wagonmeister is not responsible for brake failure caused by incorrect installation. This includes incorrect attachment of lines to the junction, or leaks caused by damaged lines or connections. The purchaser, owner, or installer is responsible for verifying that all brake lines and connector nuts are in working order, and that the braking system maintains pressure after installation of the junction. Wagonmeister is not responsible for damage done to the braking system during post-installation bleeding or adjustment of other parts. Warranty on this part is limited to ONLY the junction block itself. Check for leaks at the junction after installation and bleeding. If your brake lines' flare nuts are corroded or have damaged threads, replace them! Wagonmeister is not responsible for damage done to the junction by damaged or corroded flare nuts. Cross threaded flare nuts or damaged bubble flares on lines are a sure path to a leaking brake system. Be safe!
